Lighting Controls

Approximately 11% of the electrical energy used in a typical building is consumed by lighting. How many times do you notice lights switched on when not required? For example on bright days, or simply left on overnight because nobody thought to turn them off?

A great deal of energy can be saved by placing control of lighting systems under BEMS. This could be as simple as lighting contactors on distribution boards which switch off banks of lights at preset times, or perhaps occupancy detectors which enable light fittings when movement is detected. Budgets permitting we may propose more sophisticated solution involving for example a DALI http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Addressable_Lighting_Interface interface, which provides far greater sophistication and flexibility.
